I shoot in my home studio in the beautiful city of York.
You may not have visited York before but it has many advantages to shooting in London:
Firstly, it’s a beautiful city and well worth making a trip out of your journey to take your time to enjoy the place.
When it comes to travel, the trains are all direct and quite speedy - Birmingham or London train journies are all under 2 and a half hours. One warning would be to book your tickets 2 weeks before for the best possible deals and look at midday trains for cheaper options. Leaving extra time either side of your journey will keep your from feeling rushed and allow for any delays too.The best bit is you won’t have to deal with the tube - I offer a complimentary lift from the station so even on windy and rainy days you have the option of arriving at the shoot location hair intact and dry.

You will see your first preview of the images within a few days of the shoot. This will be all the usable images from the shoot for you to look through.
Once received, it is up to you to browse the images, select some favourites and get back to me with your final selection.

I have written a blog containing recommendations for outfits and styling so view it here.
Bringing options will help, I like to use 3/4 different looks within a shoot but be aware that you can always bring more to choose from.
If you have a strong idea of what clothing should feature, do bring it but make sure you have a good set of other options too. Having a good understanding of your casting will hopefully help you select the right clothes.
If you are unsure, it can often be a good idea to bring clothes you feel are very you, that you identify with and love to wear as this should bring out your personality well.

There are some really obvious things that are worth listing and some less so obvious. One of the more obvious choices would be to get a good night sleep and to leave time for travel.
There’s nothing worse than being tired and rushing about before a photo shoot so checking the calendar and planning ahead will put you off to a great start.
Another less obvious idea might be to plan your haircut if you are getting one soon - I feel a haircut should have at least a few days to settle into your head and look right but like I say, that is only if you do get one soon.
One consideration for your shoot is how much / what style of makeup you might choose.
My recommendation would be to wear whatever you feel comfortable with and would wear to an audition.
Casting directors want to see a headshot that represents the person they eventually audition so applying makeup similar to what you might at an audition is a good rule of thumb.
